Straightforward regulatory consulting for distilleries and spirits businesses.

SINGULARITY SPIRITS Distilled Spirits · Regulatory Compliance

About Singularity Spirits

Regulatory compliance is part of running a distillery. It should not get in the way of running one.

Singularity Spirits helps distilleries and spirits businesses deal with the regulatory requirements that come with making, storing, moving, and selling alcohol. That means working through the regulations, understanding how they apply to the operation, and determining what actually needs to be done.

Sometimes the answer is a corrected record. Sometimes it is a permit amendment, a change in procedure, or a better way to handle a recurring compliance issue. The point is to solve the problem without losing sight of how the business actually operates.

01 / LABELS + FORMULAS

Labels, Formulas & COLAs

COLA submissions, label review, TTB formula applications, sample requirements, and formula documentation. I can help identify issues before a submission turns into a long exchange with TTB.

02 / OPERATIONS

DSP Operations & Records

Production records, gauging and proofing, inventory reconciliation, tax determination, operational reports, and recordkeeping. The goal is to make required records part of the normal production workflow, rather than an exercise done after the fact.

03 / LICENSING

Permits & Market Expansion

DSP permits, permit amendments, state licensing questions, new-market planning, and regulatory analysis when a business changes products, ownership, equipment, premises, or distribution.

04 / AUDIT + REMEDIATION

Internal & Mock Audit

A practical walk-through of your operation, using the same kinds of records, equipment, inventory, and procedures TTB will look at during an audit. The result is a clear list of what needs attention, before an inspector finds it for you.

05 / SYSTEMS

SOPs & Compliance Systems

SOPs, recordkeeping procedures, internal controls, and workflows built around the way the distillery actually operates. A good procedure is one the person doing the work can follow.

06 / PROJECTS

Consulting Projects

Focused help with the questions that do not fit neatly into a standard engagement. That can include unusual production scenarios, TTB correspondence, recordkeeping questions, or a second look at a proposed change.

The approach

Know the regulation. Understand the operation.

Practical

The regulation matters, but so does the process it governs. Advice is based on how spirits are actually produced, gauged, stored, transferred, bottled, and accounted for.

Direct

If the answer is clear, I will say so. If there is an issue, I will explain what it is, why it matters, and what I would do next.

Built to Last

Where appropriate, the work should leave the business with a procedure that keeps the same problem from coming back.

About Tyler

Experience from production to compliance.

Tyler Derheim has worked in the regulated beverage industry since 2010. He started in wine production and later moved into distilled spirits, working across formulation, production, compliance, laboratory services, operations, and consulting.

That experience includes helping build a startup DSP, working through the practical problems that come with scaling production, and consulting with distilleries on the regulatory and operational questions that come up from day to day.

Before getting into the alcohol industry, Tyler built and ran a marketing company that grossed millions of dollars annually. As its sole owner and operator, he learned the less glamorous parts of running a business firsthand. He holds a degree in Business Management Economics from UC Santa Cruz.
